It was a wet and muddy weekend, but that didn’t stop the music or the community spirit at this year’s Charters Towers Country Music Festival.

It was a wet but rewarding day on the fairways as the Charters Towers Junior Open teed off on Saturday. The competition drew 34 young golfers from across the North, all battling it out despite the soggy conditions.

Charters Towers came together on Friday to mark the 110th anniversary of the Gallipoli landings, honouring all Australians who have served in times of war and peace. A highlight of this year’s events was the attendance of a World War II veteran, who laid a wreath in tribute to fallen mates.
